I’m what author Paul Neville calls “an armchair adventurer”, traveling to far off places through literature—mostly because I am navigating life as a new parent. His book, ENDLESS HORIZONS, is one of my favorite literary journeys to date. I love his vivid portrayals of where he’s explored during his backpacking excursions—immersing himself in places as varied as Cambodia and New Zealand; Myanmar and Vietnam. And when I say “immerse”—I mean it. His type of adventuring isn’t something everyone could do, but we are all better for him doing it. And, of course, there will be those readers who decide to follow in his backpacking footsteps because of this book. His beautiful depictions and stories of the people he’s met are authentic, vivid, and so human, it connects us all. I felt close to his experiences even from oceans away.

Moreover, I really enjoyed his introspection, and the way he shares why his travels started and why they are important to him. Part memoir, part history lesson, part personal essay, part travel companion—this book is all heart. There’s a true love of life within these pages, and I am so here for humans who wake up each day wanting to explore as much as they can. Paul makes me excited for life.
